The pianist Kyra Steckeweh and the filmmaker Tim van Beveren produced the 95minutes documentary film "Komponistinnen" (English title: "Women Composers") in 2017-2018. It is currently available as VoD and DVD. (English version https://vimeo.com/ondemand/womencompo... - German version: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/komponisti.... The film was screened in movie theatres in 58 cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland so far. This film was complete financed and produced privately, without any support from TV or official funding. The release was only made possible by successful crowdfunding at the end of 2017. More, this film was realised in a manner that should today be the absolute normal: an equitable creative work by a man and a woman. From the feedback we received during premieres in cinemas, we decided that there is a huge demand to learn more about women composers and their works. We see this as our all cultural heritage and therefore decided to launch another project called "Komponistinnen für alle (women composers for all)". We were starting with the four composers we featured in our documentary. But of course, we did research many more. We started filming 20-25 minutes portraits about them. Upon finishing, it will be made available - free of charge - via the internet for schools, music-schools and university, as well as for every private individual. This project started last year and the video submitted is the official crowdfunding trailer used to raise more awareness as to female composers and volunteer funding for the project. The first film of this series is already online (https://vimeo.com/401223533) and deals with Fanny (Mendelssohn) Hensel. Others are to follow, depending on the funding and completion of works.
