You need a purchase history just to get a shot at the cheapest Rolex they make: the Rolex Oyster Perpetual. In this video, I’m breaking down my Rolex OP 36 in Tiffany Blue — the story behind it, how it became the most hyped entry-level Rolex of all time, and what it actually took to get one at retail. History of the OP: The words 'Oyster Perpetual' date back to the beginning of Rolex and can be traced to the first watch they produced in the 1920s. The cheapest watch rolex makes started taking modern shape back in 2014 and then was updated again in 2020 and 2025 with bolder colors. The Watch: The Oyster Perpetual is constructed with 904L stainless steel. The cheapest Rolex features a mostly brushed finishing with polished edges and a polished domed bezel surrounding the dial. The Oyster bracelet is as good as they get with solid links, a secure clasp and fit and finish rivaling the best. The clasp features an imprinted Rolex logo rather than the protruding one you see on most other Rolex models and also features an EZ link to give you about 0.5cm more space to use on warmer days. Rolex went with an ultra smooth brass dial on the Tiffany Blue OP36 as the base before applying six layers of lacquer and finishing it off with gloss black inscriptions to provide the perfect contrast. In direct sunlight, it is a rich, saturated blue but shifts to more of an ice blue in darker environments. It just pops on the wrist in ways photos cant do it justice. The Oyster Perpetual 36 features has the Rolex’s Caliber 3230 powering it which is also the movement used for the no date Submariner, Explorer and Air king. It is not the most exciting or best finished movements out there, but it’s an absolute workhorse. The movement on the cheapest watch Rolex makes is made to take a beating and is engineered to perfection.
