Renault R5 Turbo-powered Carcreff Scora Maxi in action on hillclimb!

What you're looking at in this video is a quite unknown French car I saw during the 2018 FIA Hillclimb Masters race in Gubbio, Italy. It's called Carcreff Scora and it was originally designed by Jacques Durand, a French coachbuilder, as a successor of his 1973 Jidé 1600 S, a little and lightweight (640 kg) sports coupè powered by a Gordini 8 engine (1.6-liter, naturally-aspirated inline-4 engine with 160 hp). It was particularly used in rallying. In 1974, Durand was able to unveil the Scora at the Paris Motor Show, but due to financial problems the car's sales had to be interrupted. Only a couple of Scora's were built. In 1982 Charly Carcreff came on to the scene, buying a Scora from Jacques Durand's son in order to race it in rally events with the direct support of Jacques Durand. The car was powered by a 2.0 naturally aspirated inline-4 engine with more than 200hp and a weight of 740 kg. A great feeling established between the two and Charly helped Jacques in developing and producing new examples of the Scora for private owners and drivers. In total 25 Scora' were built and it was highly used on hillclimb racing, national rallies and on circuit too. In 1988 the association was made official and Charly Carcreff became the only director of the company a few years later. In 1990 the Scora Maxi (or Super Scora) was unveiled featuring a rear axle, wheels, transmission and engine taken from the Renault R5 Turbo 'Tour de Corse" Gr. B rally car. The engine was a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine able to produce around 270hp at 1.4 bar of turbo boost. Of course the body of the car had to be modified and widened compared to the original Scora and over the years the car has been improved and enhanced in particular for hillclimb racing. As you can see, the one in this video features the rear 16'' rims of the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, has a higher turbo pressure which allows to reach over 300hp and a sequential gearbox.
