Deshler, OH: "Crossroads of the B&O" is the popular railfan location where the busy Willard Sub crosses the Toledo Sub. I spent the bulk of a day there and traffic was...a little scarce, actually. I was surprised at how little traffic there is now on the Toledo Sub north of the junction, and was equally surprised at how much traffic there is south of the junction. Over half the trains I saw there used either the southeast or southwest connecting tracks to the Willard Sub, and one went across the Willard Sub on the Toledo Sub. This place is still a Mecca for B&O Color Position Light Signals, and there are no replacements standing next to them yet! This clip features many of the trains I saw that day... TRAIN 1: Q148 with UP power, heads east on the Willard Sub. TRAIN 2: Q143 turns south onto the Toledo Sub. TRAIN 3: Q231 turns south onto the Toledo Sub. TRAIN 4: Q010 heads east on the Willard Sub. TRAIN 5: Q342 makes a north to east move off the Toledo Sub and onto the Willard Sub. TRAIN 6: Phosphate empty K811 makes and east to south move from the Willard to Toledo Sub with BNSF and NS power. TRAIN 7: Q383 heads westbound on the Willard Sub. This is one of the mega-manifests the CSX is running. TRAIN 8: D743 local arrives lite engine to run around it's train which is in the east siding on the Toledo Sub. A nice view of the CPL signals changing is had. TRAIN 9: K172, a loaded ore train, heads south on the Toledo Sub, crossing the Willard Sub. TRAIN 10: Q171, a run-thru to BNSF, heads west.
