I’ve been searching for years for a teleprompter I could use in my livestream work but also for creating scripted videos with clients. At first I used an Ikan Teleprompter from a friend but I found over time the locking screws that held the beam splitter glass up simply wouldn’t last. Eventually the screws were stripped and I was nervous the glass would come crashing down at any moment. It also wasn’t ideal for traveling because it came in a huge rugged protective case on wheels. After searching I found the Onetakeonly Pad Prompter for Light Stands and it has quickly become my new favorite teleprompter for on-the-go run and gun style work. This teleprompter is made of a tough plastic and it’s extremely light making this a great choice for filmmakers on the go. I also discovered that I could remove the felt liner that was made to hold an iPad and then I could include a much larger screen. In this video I showed a Lilliput 10.1” monitor but I’ve found other 13” HDMI monitor options on Amazon that would work just as well. It’s important that your teleprompter screen is large enough that you can see it. I have some older clients that would struggle to read a teleprompter smaller than 10 inches so having a twelve or even thirteen inch HDMI monitor is a huge plus.
