Modified my Grizzly lathe with electronic gearbox (aka electronic lead-screw). Now I can switch between metric and imperial threading in a few seconds. In addition, one gets the following benefits: fast response RPM display, 4-speed power feed with precision stop, and z-axis DRO with smooth jogging. Some may ask this is just one step away from full CNC, why not go all the way ? My answer is that I use this lathe mostly in manual mode, this works better for me than a full CNC conversion. I do have a Sherline lathe with full CNC, I may add this e-gearbox to it as well. Will sell the controller on eBay. May consider selling a full kit if there is enough interests.
