upersport Tourer PerfectedThe FJR1300ES offers leading-edge tech that lets you tour with performance and comfort, plus electrically adjustable suspension. The FJR1300 was the original high-tech "luxury" sport-tourer, and it took the rest of the motorcycle world a few years to provide any competition. Its standing as an icon wasn't hurt by the way serious long-distance riders continue to choose it as their preferred mount. The 2016 FJR1300ES features a compact and lightweight, 1298cc, DOHC, 16 valve, liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine that delivers superb power and torque for unequaled muscular acceleration across the RPM range. Honda CTX 1300 Honda targets a different kind of touring motorcyclist with its uniquely styled, V-Four-powered CTX1300 . ith a 1261cc V-4 engine it has plenty of power. Innovations abound in the integrated bodywork. Best of all, it’s available in two versions: the CTX1300 and the CTX1300 Deluxe, Honda describes the CTX1300 as “an entirely new motorcycle species,” part bagger, of course, but also part commuter, part weekend tourer, part everyday fun ride, and even a little bit sport-tourer. Its 1261cc, 90-degree V-4 engine is touted to deliver the kind of power that can handle those diverse chores without a hitch. The CTX’s cruiser influence shows in features such as its wide, raised handlebar, the forward-set footrests and a broad dual-seat that is very low, at 735mm. The bike’s bagger status is confirmed by its pair of colour-matched panniers. Almost as vital to the format is a sound system. The Honda’s features two speakers, one in each side of the fairing. It doesn’t include a radio but works via USB or syncs seamlessly to a smartphone via Bluetooth. The 1,261cc, shaft-drive V4 engine is detuned from Pan European specification, with softer camshafts, plus revised fuel-injection and exhaust systems that reduce peak output from 117bhp to 83bhp. The benefit is improved low-rev delivery, with a broad spread of torque that peaks at just 4,500rpm. It’s a notably smooth, responsive engine with a long-legged cruising feel.
