Some of these horses were born in the wild, and thus wild, but some were formerly owned and let go during the pandemic when hay prices went high, and joined the wild horses. You’ll find horses around Dayton and stagecoach on the North side of hwy 50 mostly. The majority are at Washoe lake, and you’ll find more around Virginia city hills, and around Carson City and beyond. There’s wild horses and donkeys in central Nevada and other areas of Nevada. Locally you can find them at and around Pyramid Lake. The horse and burro center near Pyramid Lake is where the horses and donkeys that get rounded up go. They can be adopted for a small fee, and if you’re able, I believe you may also take any horse or burro you can catch in an effort to help the ecosystem. Come get some burros and horses. Burrows are more central Nevada. The area between Carson City and Stagecoach are said to have the highest concentrations of wild horses in America. Did you know there were MOOSE in Nevada?!!
