Hoag Summer Road Trip | Episode 2 | Wyoming to Mount Rushmore

After meeting up with the girls in Denver, we continued the summer family adventure, headed through Wyoming and into South Dakota. We passed through hundreds of miles of buffalo plains, thru Custer, past the new Crazy Horse Memorial, and finally to the National Monument Mount Rushmore. Thought the town of Custer was the location of his Last Stand but I was incorrect, that was just a town they came across during an early expedition leading to a gold rush. Now this is just me and just my opinion, but Mount Rushmore was a little disappointing. It's been on the bucket list for years and maybe I had my expectations too high, but it fell well short. It was much smaller than I had envisioned and really serves no historical purpose. Sure it has some significant American presidents on it, but the only reason it was carved there was to bring more tourism to South Dakota, and after driving though the state, I understand why. Maybe it might make more sense to me if it was our Founding Fathers or something, I don't know. I am very big on landscape and natural views, so it is gorgeous and still a sight to see, I'm just glad we did it while on a road trip. Episode 3 is on it's way.
