Hello everyone and welcome to the channel . In this video we gonna run a full tutorial from start to finish on a job which is going to be rear coil spring replacement. Bear in mind that this tutorial can be used as well as for changing your springs if they are broken but also if you want to put lowering springs or maybe if you want to do some sort of a lift up off road look a like MK6. The job is fairly simple and ow tho the bad wind noise by the end of the video you should feel comfortable enough to do it your self . I also have to mention that you can use a normal car jack to lift up the springs but be careful with it as they are a bit more unstable . Brand new the springs cost around 30 quid each but you can find them for 30 quid for the pair if their second hand. I never asked in a garage how much is going to cost to get that task done in a garage but if you are doing it your self and with zero tools in you garage i will do a quick brake down on rough prices . 2 spanners which will be the bear minimum that you would need will set you back with around 15 quid from any tool store . car jack you don't have to use the same as mine you can use the one from you car and borrow a second from a friend but you will have to find a good support for the car when you jacked up . lets say you want to play it safe - second hand stands can be found easy for like 10 pounds and a car jack like mine its another 20 quid second hand. This is the bear minimum tools that you gonna need so you can execute this task it will just take a little bit longer than what it took to me with using the gun and the ratchet. Wire brush is around 1 pounds . So all in total you need to spend 45 pounds on the tools needed or if you have the extra cash a set of stands , breaker bar , trolley jack and a car creeper is 80 quid, so 100 quid in total which is probably still going to be cheaper than what you going to pay in a garage for a labour and you will have the tools for other jobs as well . I think that's enough of maths for now :D . I've tried to explain and show every step as clear as possible and this is the end result after few days of editing as well. NOTE: if you decide to wire brush all of the wishbone make sure you then spray it with under body sealer. I've done it my self but its not in the video as it was only going to make the video longer and its not something that you wouldn't know what to do. NOTE: If you are unhappy with the volume of the music in the video - DON'T blame Marek as I was the one to edit the video instead and its my first time. Tools needed for the job are : 2 Spanners number 18 2 Car jacks 2 Car stands or something to support the car while its in the air 1 Wire Brush 1 Lubricant spray 1 socket number 17 for the bolts of the wheels or just your tool that comes in the tyre replacement tool kit that comes with the car (its usually located in the boot just over the spare tyre) Tools that will help you execute the job quicker: 1 Socket set must have a 1/2 ratchet 2 trolley jacks 1 Impact Gun 1 Wire brush with a drill attachment and a drill of course 1 set of googles ( if you wonder how google will make it quicker - well simply you won't have to go up and wash you eyes ever 2 mins because all of the rust that went in them while you were removing it from the wishbone) Time stamps and subs are to follow someday soon hopefully when Me or Marek are a bit more free.
