This botany experiment allows you to collect and visualize the water lost by leaves during transpiration. Try this simple science experiment at home and let me know how it goes! ▶️ Get supplies to try the leaf transpiration botany experiment yourself: https://www.beardedscienceguy.com/how... ▶️ How to do the leaf transpiration experiment: Step 1: Find a tree that has low-hanging branches and leaves. I chose the maple tree in my front yard. Step 2: Place a freezer bag over 4-5 leaves still attached to the branch. Step 3: Seal the bag as much as you can. Use duct tap to seal where the twig goes into the bag. Step 4: Wait! Step 5: In 2-3 days, observe the results. ▶️ How the leaf transpiration experiment works: After a couple of days with the bag covering leaves, you'll notice there are drops of condensation around the leaves on the inside of the bag, and a pool of water at the bottom of the bag. In trees, water is taken up by the roots of the plant and transported to the leaves, where it leaves the plant as water vapor. We're collecting that water vapor in this experiment and allowing it to condense back into a liquid inside the sealed bag. You can also visualize water being transported to the leaves by placing leaf stems in a test of red food coloring. Watch as the leaf changes colors. ------------------------------------- SUBSCRIBE for more cool science experiments! https://www.youtube.com/c/BeardedScie... Find me on Facebook! / beardedscienceguy
