Artist Yandell Walton leads ANAT Bespoke :: Re-cultivate, a three-month immersive residency in partnership with the Australian Network for Art and Technology (ANAT), South East Water, and FB IDEAS. The residency reimagines our relationship with water through artistic inquiry and creative innovation, encouraging new ways of thinking about water systems, sustainability, and the future of urban environments. As part of their ongoing research into ecological data and its role in shaping virtual environments, Yandell has explored the visualisation of historical rainfall records. This early experiment uses monthly rainfall data from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), dating back to 1904, to generate both visuals and sound in Touch Designer. Particle density and sonic textures respond directly to rainfall levels, offering an engaging way to experience long-term climate patterns. Thanks to Max Brading for assisting this development.
