Understanding the RioPace Tool

Welcome to Rio Salado College. As you start your online class in RioLearn, you may notice a new feature called RioPACE. RioPACE stands for Progress And Course Engagement. RioPACE is a tool that helps you monitor your progress in a class. The tool works by evaluating behaviors such as: • Number of course log-ins • Site engagement • Progress RioPACE then uses this information and compares it with students who were previously successful in the course. Within the first week of starting your class, go to your RioLearn course homepage. You will see the RioPACE section under "Course Information." Your current PACE status is indicated by a red, yellow or green icon.A green check mark means you are on track in your class.A yellow or red icon means you are not on track. If you see red or yellow, use the Message Center to contact your instructor and get back on track. Click "My Current RioPACE Status" to show a pop-up with your status description. You will see one of three indicators: On Target, Needs Improvement, or Falling Behind. This can help you pinpoint where you need to improve if your PACE is not on track for success. It is important to know that your RioPACE icon is NOT your grade in the class! It is simply a way to help you stay on track in your class and succeed at Rio Salado College.
