As a high school student at Queen Elizabeth High School, Akeel Khan believes in making grass root changes. With the means put forward by the environmental program SLISE he is part of a team that started a Smart Meter project in our building. The Smart Meter hub monitors the school’s energy consumption, displays information to the school body on relative costs and carbon dioxide emission and helps to incentivize environmental actions. Akeel will share how this project, as with all group action, can empower the individual through technology and information. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
