The mission area encompasses streets, apartments building and shops on a rainy night in Chongqing's Yuzhong District. On the background one can notice a real building - Grand Lisboa which is located in Macao. This implies that originally the mission End of Era was supposed to take place there. In real life, Chongqing (pronounced: CHONG-CHING) (重庆 or 重慶), sometimes alternately romanized as Chungking is one of the four direct-administered municipalities of the People's Republic of China. Administratively, it is one of the four municipalities under the direct administration of the Central People's Government (the other three are Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin), and the only such municipality located deep inland. The municipality of Chongqing, roughly the size of Austria or the French region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, includes the city of Chongqing as well as various discontiguous cities. During the Republic of China (ROC) era, Chongqing served as its wartime capital during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945). The current municipality was separated from Sichuan province on 14 March 1997 to help develop the central and western parts of China. As one of China's National Central Cities, it serves as a financial center of the Sichuan Basin and the upstream Yangtze and is a major manufacturing and transportation center. It is the eighth main installment in the Hitman video game series, the sequel to 2018's Hitman 2, and the third and final entry in the World of Assassination trilogy. The base game features six different locations: Dubai, Dartmoor, Berlin, Chongqing, Mendoza, and the Carpathian Mountains, Romania. Like its predecessors, Hitman 3 is a stealth game played from a third-person perspective, in which players once again assume control of assassin Agent 47. In the game, 47 travels to various locations and carries out contracted assassinations, continuing the story of the last two games. Each location (except the Romania map), is a large, complex sandbox environment that the player can freely explore for infiltration and assassination opportunities. In Hitman 3, 47 and Grey seek revenge on Providence for turning them both into assassins through childhood conditioning and genetic experimentation, while Diana is motivated by the death of her parents—unaware that 47 carried out the killings while under Providence's control.
