The elephants used to be trained here for Mysore Dasara earlier but not anymore. These elephants were earlier used for logging operations. But now these elephants are trained for rescue operations of injured animals in the jungle. These elephants are fed, bathed and then left back to the jungle. The one thing that bothered me was that in the camp the elephants are chained but then I guess that is required for their and our safety. Information for tourist: You can visit the camp in the morning 8.30 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 6 pm. If you are with kids ensure to maintain silence and not tease the elephants or scream while you are clicking pictures with them. You can buy tickets to bath and feed them in the premises itself and if possible do tip the caretakers
