I and a few people have been working on remastering the original files from Billy Joel's debut in 1971, Cold Spring Harbor. Next will come remasters for Billy's previous work, The Hassles, Attila, The Lost Souls, and demos from the early 70s, circa Cold Spring Harbor-Piano Man sessions. Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of Billy Joel’s first album, Cold Spring Harbor! To honor this momentous occasion, the Cold Spring Harbor Project is hosting a week of activities to celebrate the material and the career that inevitably sprawled from it. Today, the Cold Spring Harbor Project is releasing their final mastering of Cold Spring Harbor. With pitch correction, the option between the ’71 or ’83 speeds, and instrument rebalancing, this has got to be the best way to experience the original 1971 mix! Tuesday will see the release of the instrumentals of each track, allowing you to sing to your favorite CSH song with the original number guiding you along! On Wednesday comes clips of Joel discussing songs from CSH or written during the CSH-era on his SiriusXM channel. Coming Thursday… Finally, on Friday, the restored video and audio from the much-sought-after 1972 concert from WSIU will become available! This concert is the earlies video-recorded concerts of Joel’s career. The concert will be premiered, in full, on the Billy Joel Lost Tapes channel. A chatroom will be accessible during the premiere, as long as you have a YouTube account, and you’ll be able to interact with Boodles, one of the founders of the Cold Spring Harbor Project, along with plenty of other Billy Joel fans! Boodles will be using the Billy Joel Lost Tapes account. All of these goodies (and more!) will be uploaded to the Billy Joel Lost Tapes YouTube channel.
