"O welk een macht heeft uwe liefde" is a translation of the german hymn "Ich bete an die macht der Liebe" written bij Gerhardt Tersteegen 1697-1769, A poet who belongs to the very few protestant mystics. The music is written by Dmitri Stepanowitsch Bortnjanski (1751-1825), a famous Russian composer who wrote it for a Russian orthodox hymn. I could not find who combined this melody with this hymn of Tersteegen. But it became very famous. I play out of the Zangbundel Johannes de Heer (Songbook made by Johannes de Heer, One the most important songbooks used in the 20th century in the Netherlands, which didn't lack in almost every Dutch protestant home with a reed organ.
