The DuPont Cabin Loop is a 41-mile journey into the backcountry of Tonto National Forest. This trail offers breathtaking views of the Tonto Basin area in Arizona as you ascend over 5,000 feet in elevation, from the desert floor to the rolling peaks of the Sierra Ancha Mountains. Along the way, you can catch glimpses of Buck Peak and Greenback Peak, both of which rise over 6,000 feet. The loop trail is recognized as one of the "Best of the Tonto" trails by the volunteer organization Tonto Recreation Alliance. DuPont Cabin, a notable stop along the way, is believed to have been constructed in the late 1800s to early 1900s, offering a glimpse into the pioneer days of wilderness living. This trail is rated as moderate according to several trail apps and reviews, featuring rocky, steep switchbacks and deep drop-off shelf roads. It's an exciting yet bumpy ride that will take you to higher elevations, making it perfect for those warm summer days in the Phoenix Valley. I am an FAA Certified Part 107 Drone Pilot. All drone flights have been pre-planned using FAA sectional charts, reviews of temporary flight restrictions, and NOTAMs, ensuring that I am clear to fly through AutoPlylot.
