Escape the crowds of Cades Cove and join me for a ride into one of the most serene sections of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Today, we’re heading down Upper Tremont Road to follow the breathtaking Middle Prong of the Little River. This route offers a perfect blend of well-maintained gravel and stunning riverside scenery. As we transition from the paved section near the Tremont Institute onto the gravel, the canopy closes in and the sound of rushing water becomes our soundtrack. We’ll navigate the gentle curves of this old logging railroad grade, passing moss-covered boulders and hidden cascades that make this area a photographer’s dream. Whether you're on a dedicated adventure bike or a scrambler, this road provides a manageable but incredibly rewarding off-pavement experience. We’ll ride all the way to the road's end at the Middle Prong Trailhead, taking in the raw beauty of the Appalachian wilderness. What’s covered in this video: The transition from pavement to gravel at Tremont. Close-up views of the Middle Prong Little River. Why this is a must-ride alternative to the more congested park loops.
