Ata Kaipour, Ph, D., Director of Musculoskeletal Informatics Group, Boston Children's Hospital Abstract The large amount of clinical data collected as part of routine clinical care provides challenges and opportunities in improve the quality of care. Using traditional approaches to process the growing amount of data is an overwhelming task for the clinical care team. On the other hand, the traditional evaluations (i.e., qualitative radiology exams) are not capable of taking advantage of clinical data to their maximum capacity. Novel analytical approaches and artificial intelligence can address some of these issues by providing clinically relevant and interpretable platforms to review and summarize the data as well as conducting in-depth data analysis. Such approaches can provide new insight in disease mechanisms and help develop new prevention and treatment strategies, tailored to individual patient’s needs. In this talk, we will review some of those applications in pediatric and young adult orthopedic care.
