We had the privilege of hosting Assoc. Prof. Dr. Habeebullah Zakariyah, Covering Dean, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), at the Bangladesh Islamic Finance Summit & 𝐀𝐀𝐎𝐈𝐅𝐈 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, jointly organised by Adl Advisory & IFA Consultancy (IFAC). In his highly engaging and interactive session, Dr. Zakariyah explored how Islamic social finance and commercial finance can be strategically harmonised through blended finance to address real economic challenges. Drawing on experiences from Malaysia and Nigeria, he highlighted the transformative potential of integrating zakat, waqf, sadaqah, and qard hasan with commercial instruments to drive poverty alleviation, SME financing, infrastructure development, and financial inclusion. A key focus of the session was the role of Sukuk, particularly SRI, green, and waqf-based Sukuk, as effective tools for mobilising capital while delivering measurable social impact. He emphasised the importance of regulatory alignment, tax neutrality, strong governance frameworks, and incentives to unlock the full potential of Islamic capital markets in Bangladesh. Dr. Zakariyah also underscored Value-Based Intermediation (VBI) and Maqasid al-Shariah as guiding principles for embedding ethics, sustainability, and long-term value creation within Islamic financial institutions, stressing that profitability and social impact must go hand in hand. We sincerely thank Prof. Dr. Habeebullah Zakariyah for his thought-provoking session, which offered a practical roadmap for leveraging Islamic finance as a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable economic development in Bangladesh. #BIFS2025 #AAOIFI #IslamicFinance #IslamicSocialFinance #Waqf #FinancialInclusion #SMEFinance #SustainableDevelopment
