LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The No. 5 UCLA Women's Basketball team (4-0, 0-0 Big 10) picked up its fourth-straight win over Arkansas at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom on Sunday. The final score was 101-52, the Bruins' highest point total and largest point differential of the season. Junior transfer Timea Gardiner put up a career-high 23 points in the win over the Razorbacks (3-2, 0-0 SEC). She showed her power as a shooter, hitting a career-high seven threes in under 22 minutes played. Three Bruins recorded double-doubles in the game. Lauren Betts continued to find success in her junior campaign, recording 20 points and 12 rebounds in her third double-double of the season. Junior Janiah Barker picked up her first double-double in a Bruin uniform, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Graduate student Angela Dugalić also finished with a double-double in her return from international play with 18 points and 15 rebounds; the Serbian forward finished with a career-high four steals. The Bruins got off to an electric start in the first quarter, scoring 30 points to start off the game. Gardiner was on fire from the three-point line, hitting five threes, including makes on back-to-back possessions. Freshman Elina Aarnisalo was also an offensive engine in the first, recording seven assists in the first and 11 assists overall. Dugalić had a significant impact in her second game of the season, recording seven points and two steals in the first quarter. UCLA extended its lead to 32 points in the second quarter due to a team-wide effort on both sides of the ball. Betts recorded ten points, five rebounds and two assists in the quarter. The Bruins were also dominant on the defensive end, holding the Razorbacks to zero field goals made in the final six minutes of the period. UCLA outscored Arkansas 57-25 in the first half. The Bruins displayed their depth in the third quarter, with four players scoring multiple times in the frame. Barker took over the game in the third, picking up 11 points, three rebounds, and two steals in the period. Barker also got to the free throw line effectively, making four out of her five free throw attempts. Dugalić also shot effectively in the third period, scoring five points without missing once. UCLA finished the game strong, holding Arkansas to only 14 points in the fourth quarter. Dugalić led the period, scoring four points and grabbing seven rebounds. The Bruins were dominant on the glass, out rebounding the Razorbacks 65-27. The team forced 18 turnovers and scored 27 points off of them. Barker scored the final points of the game off of a putback to put the Bruins over 100 points for the first time this season.
