Any obstacle to Enlightenment. Any Demon or doubt. Any being who threatens us. These are all the enemies. She is also the most effective against Black Magic and negative wishes or curses of others. Although her mantra, by itself, can be a complete practice for those with Tara faith, the best practice is to Take Refuge First in Tara and the Three Jewels, then make offerings, offer her four lines of praise (ideally in Sanskrit) and then chant her mantra.
