Implants in Problematic Aesthetic Situations – A Multi-Disciplinary Effort

Although implant survival may indicate success in an investigation, in a clinical situation the survival of an implant is irrelevant if that implant is positioned in such a way as to prevent it from functioning and the meaningful outcome of tooth replacement is not realized. In order to achieve the optimal implant supported restoration there is need for perfect bone support, soft tissue anatomy, implant position and restoration features. The ideal combination of these four aspects is sometimes challenging to achieve, especially in problematic clinical situations. In modern implant dentistry there is a large arsenal of surgical and prosthetic techniques, materials and procedures.
