This is Laxity, a four-piece "ass rock" band from Poland. They're, uh... they're really damn great. I wish I could provide a more substantial dissertation than that, but when the most informative statements I can extract from my emails with this band's vocalist are "eggoshiityywierdo band" [sic] and "yeah, its so cooool" [also sic], naturally, I'm a bit limited as far as a detailed band biography is concerned. But with that said, I feel like there isn't much I could convey that the band's second EP, artlessly titled as "Ep 2019", doesn't immediately communicate through the album's opening track, similarly artlessly titled as "In intro we trust". Initiating with a high-strung bass melody, tweedling innocuously with a benign songfulness, the album quickly degenerates into the breed of dumpster-curated "ass rock" that the group is better known for. With the garagey, twang-loaded riffage emerging from the puddle of reverb its submerged itself in, the surf-like guitar arrangements only serve to distract from the verbal derangement that's unraveling from the group's frenzied vocalist, who's tangibly seething with a spasmodic fervor as the octane high-drumbeats propel his intensity even further -- and the best part? Things only gets far, FAR more demented from there. With an added hint of post-punk despondency that gradually permeates the group's tonal coloration through the duration of the album, Laxity truly embodies the self-imposed "eggoshiityywierdo" classification, as the once-frantic string-abuse regularly slows to a pained crawl, the muddied bass tone complimenting the vocalists disassociated ramblings to a caustic peak. For a band that regularly prescribes itself as a "trash" or "shitty" band, I think this a pedigree of bonecrushing fuckfreak-hardcore that's bordering on genius. Or, just... y'know, outright "genius-genius". Sincerely. This is good.
