However, one that doesn’t have too much hype around it, is the Explorer 1016. This is a watch that I absolutely love because its a very simple watch, however it manages to have so much character with the style of the 3,6,9 numerals. The main problem is that these watches are old, meaning that they can come with maintenance issues, and of course they are extremely expensive. Nowadays, watch brands recreate or reissue popular vintage models however, that is not something that Rolex does. Thankfully, San Martin created the SN021-G which is a reincarnation paying homage to the 1016 that I have always wanted but could never own a modern version of. I love that it shows us what a modern day 1016 would look and feel like if the watch was still made with the classic 3,6,9 numerals that so many of us love and long for.
