The company’s head of design, Rafik Ferrag, shared a first look at the car’s silhouette on Instagram, hinting at a more performance-driven and sporty direction for the brand. This would mark a shift from Xpeng’s existing sedans, which have mainly targeted family buyers. While no official specs have been released, the new model — internally codenamed E29 — is expected to build on the design language of the P7+ sedan that launched in November 2024, but with more aggressive styling and aerodynamic features like a rear spoiler. The name "Ultra" suggests a focus on high performance, similar to what Xiaomi has done with its 1,548-horsepower SU7 Ultra. Xpeng is coming off a strong April, delivering over 35,000 vehicles. The Mona M03 and P7+ made up the bulk of those sales with more than 21,000 combined units. The addition of a stylish, performance-oriented coupe could help Xpeng attract younger, design-focused buyers as it continues expanding its lineup.
