1994 Maspion ‘Cool Mate’ 9” Box Fan

Here's a neat little fan you don't see much of anymore, a Maspion 'Cool Mate' non tilt adjustable box fan, model JF 120. But before I get into the fan itself, here's a story of how I found it! On a previous video where I replaced the motor on my neighbor's Daikin AC condensing unit, I only told you that I got this fan & the random window fan parts along with the National condenser fan motor. What I didn't tell you is that the first shopkeeper I asked about a replacement motor unintentionally directed me to this fan which was at his relative's shop on the next block. He didn't have the Daikin motor or anything resembling it, so he said that his relative must have some in stock & I should pay him a visit. That shopkeeper's relative is at an area I seldom go to as there isn't anything much interesting there. When I arrived with my scooter, I think I already had the window AC parts on me. I saw that he only has 1 AC condenser fan & it's from a much smaller unit, disappointed, I nearly walked away to head somewhere else when I decided to stop & get a closer look at his storefront display of secondhand fans. I saw this 'Cool Mate' fan front & center when I arrived, but thought nothing of it as I expected it to have had a rough life like 90% of the fans he had in stock. I then noticed that this fan still has all of its warning stickers intact, and except for a bit of dirt smudges, this thing's minty! After managing to bury my excitement deep in the ground, I asked to have this fan tested, and to no surprise, everything still works beautifully! Realizing that finding things as good as this rarely happen when I visit Waru Market, I told my wallet to shut up & barf out cash to pay for this fan, only then I could focus on sourcing a condenser fan motor which I found in a shop 2 blocks down. I did curse myself for bringing all that stuff home in several plastic bags which immediately end up as trash once I reach home, but I have better things to worry about. This fan only needed a bit of polishing & lubrication to bring it to near brand new condition, which can hardly be said about many of the secondhand fans in my collection, this truly is something special. The performance isn't something I speak highly of however, this fan makes a rather annoying whizzing sound, and like my green tilt adjustable Maspion 'Cool Mate', this fan doesn't offer a big difference in speeds between medium & high when operating on 220V, which is why I demonstrated this fan on 110V. That aside, this fan is a really nice package overall! Box fans this small is rather hard to come by here as people generally gravitate towards 12" ones. #Maspion #BoxFan
