Pine Flat Campground (sometimes listed as Pine Flat West) is located in Coconino National Forest, right off scenic route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon, just north of the red rocks of Sedona, AZ. The campground is well shaded and in a forest, although you can see the orange-red rocks of Oak Creek Canyon poking through at times. A creek runs through this area, providing opportunities for swimming and fishing. Hiking is also good in this area. It appears there was one last section with sites 49-50, that is disconnected from the rest of the campground. We were confused, because the map in recreation.gov makes it look like the road continues beyond site 39, but it actually does not. So when we were there, we missed that set of sites. Also, in the section of site 39 through 48, it is a one way street, and the site numbers go in reverse, In the video, we simply played the footage in reverse, but you may be confused when you arrive if not aware. Why some campgrounds do wonky things like this we will probably never know, but assume at one time, that road was not one-way and they decided to not update the site numbers....
