"Akenfield" is a fictional place name based on the real village of Charsfield in Suffolk, England, and the village of Akenham. The name "Akenfield" is associated with the book Akenfield: Portrait of an English Village by Ronald Blythe, and the 1974 film adaptation of the same name. St Peter's church was NOT used in the film. St Peter's Church in Charsfield, Suffolk, has served the village for over 900 years, with its oldest part dating back to the early 12th century. The church reflects changes in building style and doctrine over the centuries, and stands as a testament to the faith and generosity of worshippers past and present. The church's most notable features include a 12th-century Norman window, a 13th-century lancet, and a late Perpendicular period red brick tower and southern porch. If you look carefully at the start of the film you can see 2 woodpigeons having a bust up! LOL
