TESLA PROTESTS Electric car company Tesla has been at the centre of protests around the world recently. Protests, fires, and a whole lot of spray paint. These are just some of the sights from Tesla showrooms around the world. So what's the deal? Well, Tesla is owned this guy: Elon Musk. He's the world's richest person, the owner of X, and SpaceX, and you've probably seen him hanging out with US President Donald Trump a lot, too. That's because he was recently made the head of the US Government's Department of Government Efficiency. Yes, that spells DOGE. As part of the gig, he's been tasked with slashing government spending, and has played a big role in overhauling and dismantling federal agencies, which has made a lot of people angry. So, over the past few days, there have been hundreds of protests across the US, urging Tesla owners to sell them, and in some places, protests have gotten extreme, with Tesla cars being set on fire. Protest organisers have condemned the vandalism, and Mr Musk has called for the arrest of those behind the violence. But with the movement spreading internationally, this Tesla distaste might only continue to accelerate. ICELAND VOLCANO Iceland's volcanoes are at it again! A 500 metre crack in the earth started spewing lava over night, just hours after authorities evacuated the nearby town Grindavic, and the island's biggest tourist attraction Blue Lagoon. It's the eleventh eruption this area has seen since 2021 and the second time the town has been evacuated since January last year. Luckily, nobody has been hurt but authorities aren't sure how long it will last and reckon the danger isn't over for the town. WORLD AUTISM DAY Today is World Autism Awareness Day, a United Nations day all about raising awareness and understanding of autism spectrum disorder. We caught up with 15-year-old Patrick who is Autistic and non-speaking to hear his story. FRAM2 First up, to a special mission to the edge of space. It's actually a private mission funded by crypto entrepreneur Chun Wang, with a pretty exciting line up – including the first female German astronaut, Rabea Rogge, and an Aussie explorer Eric Phillips. He seems like he's having fun. The mission is a world first, orbiting from pole to pole, where they'll carry out 22 experiments on how spaceflight and microgravity affects the human body. POPPY THE HIPPO Now it's time to meet a new baby pygmy hippo. They've named this one Poppy, and Poppy was actually born a few months back at Metro Richmond Zoo in the US, but because the US is only just coming out of winter, Poppy's only just getting out into the water. EMOTION AI And finally to a tech company that wants to know how you're feeling, instead of asking you, it uses a complex system of cameras linked to an AI algorithm. Its creators say the end goal is to help computer systems become more emotionally intelligent. __________________________________________ Subscribe https://www.youtube.com/behindthenews...
