Of all my previous albums, "Travellers In A Frozen Land" is my clear favourite. However, after almost ten years, and the experience and skills that came with them, that album's shortcomings are getting more and more obvious to me. Thus grew the motivation do revisit those icy soundscapes, but make them anew with my current abilities. That's how "A Winter Journey" came to be. It's a short EP, bringing you six tracks of improvisations stacked upon improvisations. Deliberately shorter and more "to the point" than my previous long winded improvs. Instead, every single part of those tunes was played by hand, and I avoided loops wherever possible. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, and hope you'll enjoy it too. ================================ Tracklist: 0:00 Northbound 3:40 Snowcovered Bridge 7:27 Ice Flowers 12:12 Looking Over The Valley 16:03 Steady Footsteps 19:44 Stargazing Through WIndshields ================================ Download this album on Bandcamp: https://lanthanoide.bandcamp.com/albu... ================================ For those interested at the technical stuff: Just like "Travellers In A Frozen Land", I'm restricting myself to using only free plugins: All synths are made with Surge XT Percussion sounds are from Spitfire Audio's LABS All remaining sampled instruments are played on Shortcircuit XT. The samples themselves are from one of my hardware keyboards though, namely the PSR-S700. The reverb is Valhalla Supermassive The delay is from Surge XT, too! (Yes, you can use Surge as an effect, not just as a synth!) All other effects are stock plugins in Reaper. Including those transparency effects to change the song titles on the screen. ;) ================================ On a side note: Sorry about the bad timing, releasing these tracks at the END of winter. I had to wait for the right weather to go for a hike in the mountains and photograph the album cover... I kinda refused to use AI for anything in this project, and that includes the album art as well. ;-) ================================ As always, many thanks for listening! And very special thanks to everyone who's still sticking around after all those years! It's mindboggling to see that I've been putting music on the internet for almost ten years now. Take care!
