On Tuesday, the Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench denied bail to Union minister Ajay Mishra's son, Ashish Mishra (July 26). He is the son of Ajay Mishra, a Union Minister. He was detained in connection with the incident at Lakhimpur Kheri. Ashish Misra was detained on October 9 in connection with the October 3 rioting in UP's Lakhimpur Kheri. On October 3, eight people were killed after violence erupted during a farmers' protest, killing farmers and BJP supporters ahead of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's arrival to Lakhimpur. Four of those killed were in automobiles that were part of a caravan of BJP members who had gathered to greet the UP minister.
