இந்தியர்களுக்கு காந்தி செய்த துரோகம் | Betrayal of Gandhi | SangathamizhanTV | Tamil In this video, I’m going to explain the betrayal of Gandhi. Before the independence, British wants to formulate rules which are equal for everyone and they want equal representation for the peoples of each caste and religion. Hence, in 1932 British prime minister Ramsey MacDonald announced the Communal Award, in which he divides the Indian population into 8 different categories such as Forward Caste, Scheduled Caste, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Indian Christians, Anglo-Indians, Europeans, and Depressed Classes and gives two votes for them. He called this separate electorate, in which one vote is to select the general representative and another vote is to choose the representative from each category. This is the brilliant ide and originally proposed by Dr.B.R.Ambedkar during the Round Table Conferences held in England during 1930-1932. But Gandhi opposed this communal award and he stated that this award will divide the Hindus but he accepts the separate electorate for Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Indian Christians, Anglo-Indians, and Europeans. He also announced fast to death to oppose this award in Yerawada prison. Because of Gandhi, the political leaders of India urged Ambedkar for the talk. In 1932 at Poona all the leaders meet and came to a pact which is called Poona pact 1932, in which there is no double vote or separate electorate for oppressed caste or Dalits but they can have reserved constituency for Dalits. Ambedkar does not have any other choice and he agreed for this pact.
