What does it take to push yourself to the limit? Southwestern College’s “Grit Week” is a weeklong test of hard work, endurance, and mental toughness — inspired by Navy SEAL BUD/S training. shot, edited, and delivered the entire piece solo — directing, filming, recording audio, and editing. This was all filmed on a Sony A7ii — a camera built for still photography, not video. No 4K, limited autofocus, poor low-light performance — which meant I had to rely on composition, storytelling, and timing rather than high-end gear. I take pride not just in creating work I love, but in delivering more than expected. This project was a true test of grit for me behind the camera, just as it was for the athletes on the field.
