Chill Deep House mix in Bohol, Philippines 🌴 | Wik Vol. 3 | Ben bohmer, Chris savor, Affelaye

I don’t know what it was but before arriving on this sparsely populated island of Bohol, I had this quiet intuition that I would somehow get to play a DJ set here. Out of all the places I visited in the Philippines, this felt like the most improbable one. And yet, the moment I saw Jake (SKINS) pull out his controller and start playing some of my favorite house tracks, I just stood there thinking — damn… this is actually happening. The exact thing I didn’t expect here but quietly manifested, unfolding right in front of me. We bonded instantly over being fellow DJs, and I pitched the idea of recording a set the next morning. Later that evening, Gefen and I went on the most beautiful sunset trek to the Chocolate Hills. Watching the coral limestone reefs (the hills) which were tucked under the ocean millions of years ago breathe under that golden light high up in the sky. I just knew I wanted to capture Bohol in its true element. That night, I sat with new music and some of my favorite underrated deep house tracks selecting sounds that felt aligned with what the island made me feel. The mix slowly came together to what it was supposed to be. The next morning, Jake and I took turns recording our sets in the hammock hostel, surrounded by a beautiful jungle. After that, we rode out on our bikes — to Pangas Falls, the tarsiers sanctuary, Loboc River and ended the day watching the sun melt over rice fields. It felt like the entire island had folded itself into the music. When you truly want something, ask for it then release the attachment to it. Reality responds differently when there’s no desperation behind the desire. This video has lived in my head for a very long time. Seeing it come to life feels surreal. I’m genuinely grateful.
