We have all been in a spot where we are looking for our dream job, but in the mean time we need something that will at least pay the bills. Instead of seeing this as the most annoying time in your life (which it can feel like) I would encourage you to look for something FUN that YOU would like to do in the meantime while you send out your resume to jobs that may take a bit longer to land. Think about places that will make you feel inspired. Who would you like to be around? Is there a place that can hook you up with free food or an amazing discount on clothes you already buy a lot? Maybe you are a gym rat like me and would benefit from having a free membership and getting to meet people! Or maybe you want to skip the commute and work at your apartment complex (they usually discount your rent). Whatever it is, make this bridge-job, in between time fun. Keep in mind: 1. Call places in the morning or AFTER lunch! It primes people for being in a better mood 2. Since this is temporary, have fun with it! Just make sure your boss isn't a tyrant. *I understand some may argue that retail/ect. will not pay the bills. While I agree, I would say that because the job process for many high paying positions is being extremely dragged out, it would be morally remiss to tell people to not work at all. Some money is better then no money, even if you have savings. It will also build your perspective and prevent you from getting depressed and overthinking. Trust me! Simple Script: "Hi there, I was wondering if you had any available positions for ____? Thank you so much! What was your name again? Awesome thank you _____, I'll reach out and send over my email. What's the best contact?" DON'T FORGET THE PERSON YOU TALK TO'S NAME ~Write it down. People working reception are some of the BEST foot in the doors to have no matter WHERE you are working!!!
