"There’s nothing unusual about odd time if you know what you’re playing". Playing in 4/4 time is so common as to be known as “common time”. So is everything else “odd time”? Well, the second most popular time signature is probably 3/4, or “waltz time”, and that has an odd number of beats, but I think what most people mean by “odd time” is counting in 5, 7, and 9 and then on to counting in 11, 13, 15 etc. So today we are looking at the most common of the odd times, and how to get started.
