It was at this loss that my father Oscar DeLuna Sr. responded positively to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the hope of the resurrection. My aunt Jessie was used by God to bring the good news of Jesus to the DeLuna family. It was not long after my father's conversion that he met Pastor Servando Niño who was looking for a Bajo Sexto player to join the newly formed evangelistic group called "Amen." Their vision was to share the gospel through an itinerant music ministry. Many of the DeLuna family have since received Christ as Lord and Savior even subsequent generations. This song means so much to me personally because even though I was between the ages of 5 to 8 years old I have fond memories of my dad rejoicing in the work of the ministry. He continues to do so today, but there is something special about the first few years of when a person first receives Christ. Accordionist Servando Niño and the lead vocalist Mike Hernandez have since gone on to be with the Lord, but their planting in God's kingdom has not been forgotten and neither will it go unrewarded on that great day.
