My car was throwing an error code that the SBC accumultor was not building enough pressure. This results in a nice red stop sign on your gauge cluster, telling you not to drive the car. It won't even shift into gear if this warning comes up when you start the car. The brakes can fail without warning, at any time (this happened to me, driving with my family). Sometimes the warning light can come on while you're driving, which results in losing the majority of your braking ability. I had the accumulator replaced with a brand new unit, and that has fixed the issue. What do you do when you have a broken accumulator and a lathe? Cut it open to see what's inside!
