Jet formation flights in FPV are back!! There goes more thrilling aerial footage of a couple of EDF jets flying together! The video was shot 'air-to-air' using a racing quadcopter. This time we are all piloting in FPV and we are using a SU-35S and an F-16 to perform the flight. I don't know about you, but I'm quite hyped about all this!!! :D This was my first time trying a formation flight on the SU-35 in FPV so I didn't push it too much, it is a good idea to get right the speeds, feeling and handling of the formation before attempting to tighten it (Besides the F-16 pilot was not making it easy for me, precisely... :p). Both jets are Freewing, the SU-35S is a dual 70mm EDF and the F-16 uses a single 70mm unit. I am chasing the F-16 with the SU-35 and the quadcopter chases us both at the same time, again, all using FPV gear (First Person View). This was the 29th flight on this SU-35 airframe. It would help me a lot that you subscribe there and hit the bell button, thanks! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regarding my SU-35 setup: This is a highly modded Freewing SU-35S. It includes an autopilot controller and an FPV headtracking visual system that makes the plane effectively a UAV/RPA. (Stabilizing functions not active in the flights shown). The 'autopilot' is a FeiYu-Tech FY-41AP and it also provides the OSD seen on the FPV window. Just as virtual reality 'VR' goggles are used to play videogames, here a similar technique is used to watch what the plane sees in real time just like if you were sitting in the plane's cockpit, and the camera will follow your head movements! This is kind of 'reality virtualized' as opposed to 'virtual reality' ... what do you think about it? I encourage you to leave your thoughts in the comments section below! As for the jet itself, the SU-35S is well known for its supermaneuverability features, that are a result of a good aerodynamic design coupled with the use of thrust vectoring nozzless. The pilot displays a few post-stall maneuvers using the TV nozzles that would be otherwise impossible to perform with a normal jet aircraft.
