Rallycross Internations Cup 1992

In 1990 the partners of Apple MG built and engineered a Rallycross Vauxhall Nova for the up and coming local driver Paul Coney. Using sound engineering astonishing results were achieved from this 8 valve 1600cc machine which including Winning the Vauxhall Nova Challenge Championship in 1991 and 5th place overall in the two wheel drive division at the Rally Cross Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. In 1992 due to a peculiarity in the Rallycross class system Great Britain had no entrance for Division 1 of the European Internations Cup event held in Germany. The team were invited to "make up the number" against the best of the European teams in their much more powerful machines. It seems the Kent team hadn't read the script properly caused a lot of upset on its way to qualifying for the final. Sadly a broken driveshaft finally stop the little Nova.
