Various Floating Point representations are used in computers. In year 1985, IEEE 754 Standard for Floating Point Arithmetic was established. Since 1990, it is most commonly encountered representation. Floating-point division does not require an alignment of mantissas, division can be formed by dividing two mantissas and subtracting the exponents. The algorithm for Floating Point Multiplication can be divided into four steps: 1) Check for zeros 2) Initialize registers and evaluate the sign 3) Align the dividend 4) Subtract the exponents 5) Divide the mantissas Flowchart for Floating Point Division has been explained in detail.
