The Celtic Folk Band Spinning Wheel (based in Austria) performs the song Kings Shilling. The song King's Shilling addresses the age-old practice of coercing young men into military service, sending them off to distant battlefields to fight wars for monarchs. Historically, the King's shilling symbolized the payment of one shilling given to recruits for the British Armed Forces, signifying their agreement to serve as sailors or soldiers. While often perceived as a traditional piece, the song was penned by Ian Sinclair of the folk group Mirk during the 1970s. This heartfelt anti-war anthem subtly yet powerfully conveys its message. Our version follows the arrangement of Karan Casey and James Taylors duet at the transatlantic sessions. Band Website: https://www.spinningwheel.at Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/intl-de/arti...
