Training alone is often not enough to support providers and health facility managers to become fully competent and comfortable in providing client-centered care within their own service delivery environment. Mentoring, in addition to training, has been found to have resulted in increased quality of care provided by the healthcare workers while supportive supervision, replacing traditional supervision, has been increasingly implemented and gained wider acceptance by Government health workforce. Pathfinder’s Shukhi Jibon project, funded by USAID, introduced and integrated Mentorship and Supportive Supervision (M&SS) into the government’s existing family planning service delivery system—a first for Bangladesh. This approach strengthen peer learning by pairing mentor-mentee within existing system. This video briefly portrays the M&SS process, the actual on-ground experience and the difference made.
