Grizzly Downhill to Needles Run to City Hill is a ski run of varying difficulties located at Snowbasin Resort. The trails run from the summit of the John Paul Express chairlift and the John Paul Lodge down to the resort's main base area. The run begins to the slight skier's right of the chairlift on a traverse that connects the lodge to many of the area's trails. After continuing on the traverse for a while, I took a left onto Grizzly Downhill, an advanced trail that was used as the middle portion of the men's downhill course for the 2002 Winter Olympics held in Salt Lake. The trail begins with a long and steep drop as the trail runs straight down the mountain. The trail then turns slightly to the right and merges with Wildflower Downhill and briefly flattens out before turning sharply to the right into a shorter drop. The trail then merges onto Needles Run, an intermediate trail that runs underneath the Needles Gondola before reaching a two-way intersection. Here, I skied to the left to ski onto City Hill, a short but steep intermediate trail that runs straight down the rest of the mountain before reaching the base area. The John Paul and Allen Peak areas are known for their steep runs, including the downhill race courses used for the 2002 Winter Olympics.
