We were rained off last week, so we were raring to get going again—and this time we headed back to Brockhurst Farm in the sunshine. This relatively short route from Aston Hall to Brockhurst Farm has needed extensive renewal. In early October we began with a nine-point to-do list; after today, there are just two more steps left to install. Our task this week took us a couple of hundred metres west of Brockhurst Farm to install a bridge and add two steps to an existing fence. Over the past few weeks on this section we’ve dealt with rocks, stones, and stubborn tree roots—but today’s obstacle was a toad sitting exactly where our first hole needed to be. We carefully re-homed it nearby. The bridge is made of two hefty sleepers that had been delivered to the farm along with the spreader plates. Once we’d carried them to the site, we could start digging out each side of the ditch. Compared with some of our recent installations, this one was relatively straightforward. Have a look at how we got on.
