Full Text: Hi friends, we’ll be learning the meaning of “I Heard it Through the Grapevine”. “I Heard it Through the Grapevine”. We use this idiomatic expression when we’re talking about a piece of news about someone or something that we heard from another person, who also heard it from someone else, who also heard it from someone else! So it’s second hand news. Something that hasn’t been verified. It could be true but we don’t know this yet. We can also call it hearsay, rumours or simply gossip. Let me give you an example… People have been saying that the company is planning on laying off many of its workers. If this is true hundreds of people will lose their jobs. It hasn’t been confirmed yet, I just “heard it through the grapevine. “I heard it through the grapevine.” Make sure you’re pronouncing the non voiced “th” sound in the word “through” correctly.
