Protect your rights as an immigrant and learn how to navigate the legal landscape while understanding potential new policy impacts as we prepare for anticipated immigration challenges under the incoming Trump Administration. Longtime Pleasanton-based Immigration Attorney Spojmie Nasiri along with Omar Aziz, Executive Director of the Afghan-American Community Organization (AACO), lead this legal rights workshop in Pashto, Dari & English. This event is sponsored by the Afghan-American Community Organization, The 5ive Pillars Organization, and the SRVIC-MCC Refugee Team. This workshop was delivered at the Muslim Community Center - East Bay (MCC East Bay) in Pleasanton, California, on Saturday, January 11, 2024. About the Speakers Spojmie Nasiri founded the Law Office of Spojmie Nasiri, PC, in 2011 in Pleasanton, California, to provide her clients with the personalized and compassionate immigration legal service they deserve. Mrs. Nasiri currently practices immigration law exclusively and is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She has extensive experience representing clients with family-based Immigration matters before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services; complex deportation matters before the Federal Immigration Court and U.S. Embassies around the World. Born and raised in Fremont, CA, Aziz is settling into his new life in Maryland with his family and embarking on two adventures centered around the Afghan-American diaspora. Within his PhD program in higher education at George Mason University, Omar is concluding his dissertation research focusing on Afghan-American college students and the intersection between race, ethnicity, and immigration. Simultaneously, Omar begins his post as AACO’s Executive Director to build a stronger, more engaged, and more cohesive Afghan-American community. Afghan-American Community Organization (AACO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the Afghan-American community through education and outreach and promoting civic and social engagement through the annual conference and beyond.
